Sober Homes and the Shoulder to Shoulder Mentoring Program
The C.R.A.C.K. House Ministries Sober Homes provide residential housing, for men who are dead serious about their recovery. Each resident is asked to sign a covenant when they are accepted into a Sober Home. They become part of the Shoulder to Shoulder Mentoring Program. The Sober Home environment and the Shoulder to Shoulder Program seeks to balance freedom with boundaries, support with self-determination and trusting encouragement with consequences for violating trust.
At CHM we realize that first a man must desparately desire freedom from adiction. and that the power and the motivation to live "a lifetime of recovery" is available Spiritually through a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ. If this cornerstone has been laid, restoring broken relationships, recovering from financial ruin and becoming a valued employee are all within reach. Living a life of joy, peace and power is possible!
Sober Homes: There typically have between 2 and 4 men residing in each home. Currently there are 3 separate homes within a few miles of the CHM Ministry Building. The homes themselves are intended to provide an envionment for growth. Learning to relate and get along with others in the midst of doing life, is important for spiritual discipline and relational growth. Sharing times of prayer and Bible study provides opportunity for "iron to sharpen iron". Sharing work to keep a household going builds a servant heart and a sense of responsibility and ownership. Covenant: Each resident is asked to sign a covenant that lays out expectations, encourages positive behaviours and provides behaviours that where exhibited, indicate a man is choosing to remove himself from the Sober Home and the Program. Client Covenant
Mentors: Each resident is assigned several mentors to encourage growth, provide assistance and accountabiity in the five areas of growth including spiritual, recover, financial, employment and relational. The mentors also provide more formal group training in these areas and provide input to the CHM executive and operations directors about progress or concerns. Mentor List
Program: The program consists of 3 phases which represent growth milestones in each of the areas. The executive and operations directors along with the mentors determine growth through the program phases and when program milestones have been reached. The program goal is to graduate men who have a year of sobriety, are on financially stable footing, are gainfully employed, are supported and encouraged by the CHM Family, and are contributing to helping others achieve their freedom.
